Connection, knowledge, curiosity: the coordinates that guide our journeys

Connection, knowledge, curiosity: the coordinates that guide our journeys

Calmonte's presence on the market is summed up not only in our constant proximity to our customers and in personally monitoring the production flows of the suppliers with whom we have been collaborating for years, but also in our constant participation in trade fairs and events, not exclusively related to home textiles. These trips, and the encounters that ensue, have a vital function for us, because they enable us to nurture that spirit of research and human closeness that has always underpinned our professional attitude.

If there is one aspect that more than others characterises the way we interpret our work, it is our propensity to travel. First of all, because most of the suppliers we work with are literally on the other side of the world, and often our ‘desire for security’ leads us to fly to their homes to be sure that the productions meet the customer's wishes. This is not control mania, nor is it a lack of trust in professionals with whom we now have a relationship of mutual trust and esteem, but rather an opportunity to consolidate a professional process that is always appreciated by all those involved: clients of course, but also the producers themselves, who always interpret our physical presence as a source of serenity and a guarantee of reducing the margin of error to a minimum. Moreover, and this is a factor we particularly value, it is always a matter of revitalising professional and human relations that draw their lifeblood precisely from the possibility of sharing the same physical space, looking each other in the eye.

The same desire for relationship and contact is what drives us to participate in the most important trade fairs related to home textiles. It happens every year in January at the well-known Heimtextil in Frankfurt, where we have been visiting our suppliers' stands since the very beginning of our company, creating opportunities for contact between them and our most trusted customers, and meeting our entire international team to celebrate a year of work all together. But if the desire to ‘connect and connect us’ is an important engine that drives us to travel, an important role in this is also played by our need to keep up-to-date. Indeed, we are convinced that allowing ourselves to be enveloped - and overwhelmed - by the latest news and innovations in our sector has always been a conditio sine qua non for succeeding in carving out that role as professionals that our customers and collaborators recognise in us.

In this sense, in addition to Germany, other unmissable destinations are undoubtedly the Canton Fair, where every year we are able to come into contact with the most important novelties on the Chinese market. With the same intention, we also open up to other international marketplaces whose textile tradition has always been recognised throughout the world: this is why we do not miss the Hometex in Istanbul, the IHGF Delhi Fair in India - where we avail ourselves of the trustworthy presence of our international offices - as well as the unfailing European events such as Maison&Object in Paris and the very Italian Homi in Milan. The more we travel, the more we get to know. And the more we know, the more we realise that horizons can expand beyond all expectations. This is why our work has always focused on finding the best solutions for our customers, not only in terms of the product, but also for everything concerning its presentation to the public. It is thanks to this all-round vision that our curiosity also drives us to participate in events that are not directly related to the world of home textiles, but which concern, for example, other aspects of communication, product design and technological innovation in general. Sometimes, in fact, the best ideas come from areas - only apparently - distant from your own. Just open your eyes and... Travel!
